Veronica VanderSchee to be inducted into Canada West Hall of Fame

Veronica VanderSchee (nee: Den Oudsten) is part of the Canada West Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025-26, which was announced on Jan. 12. VanderSchee is one of eight members of the 2025-26 class, and will be inducted in the athlete category.

A native of Lacombe, VanderSchee is considered one of the all-time greats in University of Calgary women’s basketball history.

VanderSchee led Calgary to three straight conference championships from 1988 to 1990, and a national championship victory in 1989. She captured the Nan Copp Award as Canadian University Player of the Year in both 1988 and 1990, and was named MVP of the national championship tournament in 1989.
