Programs


Basketball Alberta is excited to introduce a new program for 12-13 year old athletes.  Junior Academy is based on a successful Canada Basketball model.  It is designed to ground athletes in the important fundamentals and skills of the Canadian Style of Play that will accelerate their development at this important stage.

   
The Senior Academy takes its place in the newly announced Basketball Alberta Athlete Development Pathway.  Senior Academy will align with Junior Academy and TAS programs under the Canada Basketball umbrella and emphasize learning the Canadian Style of Play.  

For athletes ages 14-17

Athletes will be identified through a tryout process as space is limited.
   
The Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS) is desgined to work with the elite 12-15 athletes from each region of Alberta to create an enhaced training and competitive environment.  Athletes may be identified and will be prepared for potential future opportunities with the Canadian Nationals Teams.

Participation in the programs will be by 
INVITATION ONLY
   
Purpose:  To offer an accessible, structured basketball program to all boys and girls and provide the following;
  • Skill development
  • On court training sessions
  • Strength, conditioning, sports psychology and nutrition training
  • Coaching/mentorship
  • 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 competition in two weekend tourneys
  • A safe place for all kids to gather around the sport of basketball
  • Having fun!
   
Our Mini-Clinics program is tailored towards youth development. One of our BA instructors will provide young athletes an opportunity to develop their skills and understand the game of basketball. The emphasis will be placed on playing the game while introducing new skills. Mini-Clinics are suited for youth ages 7 to 11 years old with very little basketball experience.
   
Basketball Alberta is proud to offer the Jr. NBA Program.  Partnering with Canada Basketball and the NBA, Basketball Alberta will proudly offer this youth development program to teach solid fundamental skills to young players.
