ABA Alumni of the Week: Nate Waldron
University of Alberta Golden Bears men’s basketball forward Nate Waldron has been the named Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) Alumni of the Week for the week of Jan. 26 to Feb. 1, 2026.
The St. Albert product came up big off the bench, scoring 12 points in 21 minutes to help Alberta post a crucial 79-70 victory over the host Calgary Dinos on Jan. 31. Waldron led all players in the game and equalled his career high with 11 rebounds, including an incredible seven offensive boards.
Through 18 games this season, Waldron is averaging 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Golden Bears, who are currently tied for second in the Prairie Division standings with the Mount Royal Cougars. Alberta hosts the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Feb. 6 and 7 to wrap up the regular season schedule.
Waldron represented Alberta at the 2022 Canada Basketball National Championships for 17U Boys in Edmonton, where he was named a First-Team All-Star after averaging 15.6 points and 13.1 rebounds.
